REMINDER: you should only play the courses assigned by Madame Yeo to ensure you are learning the right vocabulary, appropriate for the classroom. The two courses I have assigned look like the photo below. mercredi le 27 septembre (day 2) Today, the grade 7s participated in JUNGLE SPORT so some missed French. We will continue demain! mardi le 19 septembre 1. Today's bellwork focused on identifying context clues, like capitals, punctuation, and greetings, to rearrange a dialogue between two people. 2. We also began working on our first set of learning goals for UNITÉ 1: JE ME PRÉSENTE. Our learning goals and practice activities can be found under the intermediare tab on the first page or by clicking here! 3. Finally, we started reading a biography. We are learning how to identify key pieces of information, what sentence starters are common, and what is included in a typical je me présente paragraph. mercredi le 20 septembre 1. Today's bellwork was a diagnostic assessment. It focused on answering 3 questions about a dialogue we'd read yesterday. 2. We continued to discuss information that is typically shared when you first meet someone. We also answered some questions about the je me présente above (Merci Twinkl!) 3. Finally, we copied a note about ordering numbers in French (found below). jeudi le 21 septembre Today we practiced using ordered numbers in context! We watched a cool video of a young French girl following instructions to put Lego people in order. We also discussed other places numbers come in handy when speaking another language. Students brainstormed that ordered numbers are useful for making choices, addresses, phone numbers, sports standings, jersey numbers, the date, and a myriad of other things! If you were absent or need a refresher, here is another awesome video explaining this concept! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EDgrMlq8vT4

Today we logged into les ordinateurs (computers) to begin learning vocabulary on MEMRISE. Memrise is a website, and an app, that students will be assigned words in to practice. It helps reinforce pronunciation, spelling, and vocabulary acquisition. Students will earn points for their équipes based on their spot on the Memrise leaderboards. Students were encouraged to download the Memrise app on their phone if they prefer using this over the school's devices. This is not mandatory though, as computers will always be provided! Students, don't forget to log into Memrise with you KPR GOOGLE ACCOUNT! mercredi le 13 septembre Today, we made French folders in our bookmark bar. Students now know how to access the French Edsby page and my website/blog. Students were also sorted into 4 équipes, also known as the Frogwarts houses. These teams/houses will be competing each month for a prize. I wonder who will win le prix en septembre? Finally, some classes began the podcast Coffee Break French, season 1! mardi le 12 septembre Today marked semaine 2 in Madame Yeo's French class. We are getting quicker with our daily routines already and all students, grades 6-8 got BELLWORK (travail de cloche) for septembre. We are going to be completing a diagnostic assessment this week. This will help me benchmark where you are as learners! The grade 8 diagnostic focused on assessing greetings, asking & answering common questions, the date, numbers between 1 & 100, school vocabulary, common verbs and expressions. The results show that our strengths are greetings, numbers from 1-50 & some common expressions. We will need to review asking & answering common questions, the date, numbers between 50 & 100, school vocabulary, and common verbs! The grade 7 diagnostic focused on assessing common greetings, classroom vocabulary and numbers 1-30. Most students are showing that they know their numbers 1-30 but need to review salutations, classroom vocabulary and French spelling. vendredi le 8 septembre
